Wheeling Jesuit University Community Day Website & Photo Gallery

In 2014 Wheeling Jesuit University hosted Community Day, a full day of events open to the public highlighting the WJU community. Our team was asked to design and develop a custom website to highlight the days events and provide more information to the public. While designing, we wanted the site to be engaging and easy to use, while also showcasing every event in a clean manner. We started by creating a custom hover effect to give quick information about each event. When an image is clicked, an inline image appears giving more information about the event. Images were organized by time and location throughout the day. Printable schedules and maps were also made available to the audience.

After Community Day took place, we were then asked to create a custom photo gallery to display all of the pictures taken throughout the day. For this project, the Web Services team worked with the Communications Web Authoring class to design and develop a photo gallery that met the Universities needs. By working with students, we were able to develop a gallery that was easy to use and engaging to students while also providing real world experience to current WJU students. The class was broken into teams, asked to develop a gallery then give a formal presentation to the team. Because of the amazing results we received from the students, the final project is a hybrid of three projects, which was developed by the Web Services Team.
